OUR HISTORY
A FAMILY ADVENTURE IN THE HEART OF PETIT-CHAMPLAIN
OUR ROOTS - 63, rue du Petit-Champlain
Our story began on December 15, 1983, a few months before the great Parade of Sailboats in 1984. Paul Drolet founded "Le Capitaine D'a Bord", thus laying the foundation stone of our family business.
Our iconic sign with the captain and his buoy, created by Silvio Lagacé, has become a recognizable symbol in the historic district.
A STORY OF TRANSMISSION
Following Paul's death, Jacques Bourbonnière and Suzanne Bélanger took over the business in 1992, perpetuating his vision and spirit.
On December 15, 1993, David, son of Jacques and Suzanne, joined the team. In the following years, their daughter Catherine also became involved in the company for several years.
GROWTH AND ADAPTATION
Expansion into the outdoors
In 1995, responding to innovations in the outdoor sector, we created "Plein Air D'a Bord." This store positioned us as a major retailer of the Chlorophylle brand in the region.
Faced with the evolution of the market, this space then became a natural extension
of Le Capitaine D'a Bord.
Digital shift
In 2000, we launched our first transactional website, demonstrating our commitment to innovation. Today, our online presence is well established at capitainedabord.com.
CONTINUOUS EXPANSION
In 2013, we seized the opportunity to expand our retail space when the neighboring store moved. Our business now spans three adjacent locations, all connected to provide a seamless shopping experience.
THE NEW GENERATION
Since 2019, David's four children have been part of the family adventure by working in the boutique, thus ensuring the continuity of our tradition.
MORE THAN 40 YEARS OF HISTORY
Since 1983, four generations have succeeded one another to offer you quality service!
